One of the earliest references to Elvington at Eythorne in Kent appears in Edward Hasted’s ‘The History and Topographical Survey of the County of Kent’ written in 1800.
With the discovery of coal deposits below Kent during the late 19th century at Dover, plans were soon made for the exploration of possible further coal seams being viable across the whole of Kent.
As most of you know Margaret grew up in Elvington Post Office which her mum Phyllis and aunt Edie ran, always with humour and pleasantness.
